Jokowi Summons Economic Ministers to Palace

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo or Jokowi summoned a number of ministers and economic officials to the Merdeka Palace on Monday, September 3.


Among the ministers are Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution, Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo, Chair of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Board of Commissioners Wimboh Santoso, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Panjaitan, and Minister of Trade Enggartiasto Lukita.


Coordinating Minister Darmin Nasution said he did not know why they were summoned. “I don’t know, I will tell later after the meeting,” he said.

As is known, the rupiah exchange rate reached Rp14,767 per US dollar based on the Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (Jisdor) reference rate today, Monday, September 3.

The data published by Bank Indonesia today puts Jisdor's reference rate at Rp14,767 per US dollar, tumbling by 56 points or 0.38 percent from Rp14,711 on Friday, August 31.


The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) also released inflation data showing a 0.05 percent deflation in August, while annual inflation was 3.2 percent (year-on-year).
