TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan wants to make the location of the former pedestrian bridge (JPO) in Thamrin, near Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout, Central Jakarta, as a permanent place for art installation.
Currently, a bamboo installation made by an artist Joko Dwi Avianto was installed at the location. “The bamboo installation is not the last. The place will become a permanent location for art installation,” the governor in Cipayung, East Jakarta, Wednesday, August 15.
Anies explained that it was made by an artist that he respected very much. He said that he had held a Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany in 2015 with Joko. “Now I ask Joko to make art installation in Jakarta,” Anies said.
The 3-meter art installation does not block the view of Selamat Datang Monument. People who drive from the direction of Jalan Thamrin to Jalan Sudirman still can see it clearly.
According to Anies Baswedan, the installation sends a message that there is still a traditional side in the middle of buildings surrounding the HI Roundabout. He called it a soft, simple, but complex work of art.
