TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gerindra Party Secretary-General Ahmad Muzani said Prabowo Subianto and his vice presidential candidate would declare themselves tonight, Thursday, August 8.

“Tomorrow night [tonight], we will declare Prabowo and his candidate to the public as the ideal pair of the presidential candidate,” said Muzani at Prabowo’s house, Jalan Kertanegara IV, South Jakarta, on Wednesday night, August 7.

Muzani said his party is still discussing the two candidates. They are the Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Party Board of Trustees Sandiaga Uno and Chief of Command of the Democratic Party Joint Task Force Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono.

Muzani said the results would only be decided after Prabowo hold a meeting with the Democratic Party Chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY). Because there has been a distortion of information between the two parties due to a tweet by the Deputy Secretary General of the Democratic Party Andi Arief which called Prabowo as a cardboard general. Andi also accused the National Mandate Party (PAN) and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) have received money from Sandiaga Uno.

Muzani said Prabowo and SBY would meet on Thursday morning at SBY’s house, Jalan Mega Kuningan Timur VII, South Jakarta, to discuss the continuation of the coalition that had been explored.

“God willing, the discussion of the two leaders as well as national figures will reach a meeting point,” he said.

Muzani said the declaration will be held today at Prabowo’s house on Jalan Kertanegara IV.

“God willing, it will be declared tomorrow [tonight], on a beautiful Friday night. According to Pak Amien (Chairman of the PAN Honorary Board Amien Rais) tomorrow Friday night is the special night,” said Muzani on Wednesday night.

Through the information circulating among journalists, it is unclear what time Prabowo will declare. There was also a notice that the agenda on the air today is “PrabowoPresident2019”.
