TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Saiful Mujani Research Center (SMRC) political observer Djayadi Hanan revealed his take on the two possible criteria that President Joko `Jokowi` Widodo will consider upon choosing his future running mate for the 2019 presidential election.
“There are two criteria likely to be considered by Jokowi in choosing his future running mate,” said Djayadi on Tuesday, July 10.
The first is a candidate that comes from a non-partisan position, which Djayadi says is to avoid a sense of enviousness and maintain the solidity among a number of political parties that have declared their support for Jokowi.

The future incumbent presidential candidate is currently backed by five coalition parties, namely; Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Golkar, Hanura, Nasdem, and PPP. The second criteria according to Djayadi is a vice presidential candidate with a religious background.
“Whatever the situation is, the votes from Muslim groups and Santri (students of Islamic boarding schools) are very decisive,” he argued.
Djayadi further said that President Jokowi would also surely consider the chemistry factor in the individual that the president would announce to be his running mate in the 2019 presidential election.
