TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Jakarta former governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok celebrated his 52nd birthday in the detention center of the Mobile Brigade HQ (Mako Brimob) in Kelapa Dua, Depok.

Ahok was born on June 29, 1966, in Manggar, East Belitung. He has to celebrate his birthday in Mako Brimob as he has to serve a two-year prison term for blasphemy.

Ahok sent a letter to his supporters from behind bars, as quoted from his Instagram account.

"Saya mengucapkan terima kasih atas doa dan dukungannya di hari ulang tahun saya. Mohon maaf, saya tidak bisa menerima Bapak, Ibu, dan Saudara di dalam Mako Brimob," said Ahok today, June 29. (I’m grateful for your wishes and supports on my birthday. I’m sorry I cannot meet you all in mako Brimob).

Ahok celebrated his birthday this year in Mako Brimob, Depok for the second time. He has served time since May 9, 2017.
