TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - MotoGP has signed an agreement to hold the Brazil Grand Prix. The agreement will be effective after 2021, and the Grand Prix will be held in the new circuit that will be built in Rio de Janeiro.

MotoGp shareholder Dorna Sport announced in a written statement that an MoU has been signed with Rio Motorsport, a multi-national enterprise backed by local and international investors.

The new circuit will allow Rio de Janeiro to become the alternative venue for the old Jacarepagua circuit. The Jacarepagua circuit had hosted MotoGP events from 1995 and 2004, and was used to hold the Formula 1 event in the 1970s and the 1980s before the race was moved to Interlagos in Sao Paulo.

"We are happy with Dorna’s interest to return to Brazil and for their trust to promote the race at the old horse race track we hoped to be built in [Rio de Janeiro]," said JR Pereira, Chairman of Rio Motorsport.
