7,000 Police, TNI Personnel to Guard Persija-Home United Match

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police have deployed thousands of officers, joining forces with the TNI, to secure the second-leg semifinal match if the AFC 2018 Cup in Jakarta tonight. The home team Persija will go off against Home United at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in South Jakarta.


"We are sending more than 7,000 officers to secure the stadium." Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono said here on Tuesday, May 15.

The Jakarta Metro Police have declared a state of high alert following the series of bomb attacks in Surabaya and Sidoarjo on Sunday and Monday.


The police are also tightening security in public places such as offices, shopping areas, and houses of worship. Nevertheless, Argo reminded the public to stay calm whilst remaining cautious.
