After Surabaya Bomb Terrors, Jakarta Police Force on High Alert

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police Spokesman Comm. Argo Yuwono explained that Jakarta’s highest security status of ‘Siaga 1’ is announced exclusively for police members and not for regular Jakarta citizens.
“The Siaga 1 was announced to increase the police awareness,” said Argo at the Jakarta Metro Police today on Monday, May 14. The announcement was made by Jakarta Metro Police Inspector Gen. Idham Azis through an official telegram order.

The high alert status can be seen being implemented in Jakarta Metro Police’s headquarters today where its security was enhanced significantly by conducting thorough body checks for every visitor and their belongings.
The Siaga 1 also means that there will be one-third of Jakarta’s police force that will be on immediate standby however it is not known when the high alert security status will last.
Furthermore, the letter also mentioned that the Siaga 1 status was a direct response to the three alleged terror attacks that took place in three Churches in Surabaya on Sunday.
