TEMPO.CO, Kuala Lumpur - Vice President of People`s Justice Party of Malaysia (PKR), Nurul Izzah, said that she could understand that each person needs family time after Malaysia`s General Election. This was said in relation to Najib Razak`s statement posted on his Twitter account today, May 12.

Earlier today, Najib said on his Twitter @NajibRazak that he apologized for any shortcomings and mistakes. He also expressed his gratitude to people for trusting him as the leader. “It has been the honour of my lifetime to serve you and Malaysia,” he tweeted.

Nurul also thanked the former Malaysian PM Najib Razak who did a peaceful transition and acknowledged his lose elegantly for the recent General Election in the country.

“We (the government) must try our best effort to return the money and assets stolen from the Malaysian people,” Nurul told Tempo on Saturday, May 12. “The process should be done fairly and according to law without any intention for revenge.”

Nurul is the oldest daughter of PKR founder, Anwar Ibrahim, who was a former Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia. PKR is now led by Anwar's wife Wan Ismail while waiting for his husband to be released from jail for his involvement in a sodomy case during Najib Razak reign.

Currently, Malaysia is hit by 1MDB scandal worth trillions of rupiah, where Najib Razak is allegedly involved. The 1MDB stands for 1 Malaysia Development Berhad, a state investment company with Najib as the commissioner.

In the previous tweet this morning, Najib also stated that he was going to rest for awhile to spend time with his family. He is rumored to be flying to Jakarta, Indonesia, with his wife Rosmah Mansor.

Following Najib's commitment stated on his Twitter account that he respects the wish of the Malaysian people and is willing to facilitate the power transition smoothly, Nurul commented, “the law and the court process must overcome the influence, sentiment, and partisan spirit.”

Nurul Izzah also emphasized that the new government is committed to reform the key of the institution, including the country's election commission.

Alliance of Hope (PH) coalition, powered by PKR, gains the majority seats in Malaysia's parliament with 113 seats defeating the Barisan Nasional, that gains only 79 seats in the general election. This is the first defeat of BN after ruling Malaysia for 61 years and when Najib Razak reign.
