Online Taxi Drivers to Stage Protest at Grab, Go-Jek Offices

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Online taxi drivers joint in a group named Koalisi Kesejahteraan Driver Online (KKDO) Indonesia planned to hold a protest to the app-based ride-hailing companies Grab Indonesia and Go-Jek today, Monday, April 16.


KKDO Indonesia coordinator Alexander stated that as of 10:38 am, the drivers of the online taxi have flocked the meeting point located in the ex-building of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

“The estimated number of the online taxi driver is 500 people driving their own cars,” said Alexander when contacted by Tempo Monday, April 16.


Grab Indonesia office is located in Kuningan, South Jakarta, while Go-Jek headquarter is located in Pasaraya Blok M, Kebayoran Baru.

According to Alexander, KKDO Indonesia demanded three things related to the online drivers’ welfare; first, the drivers refuse Grab Indonesia and Go-Jek to be public transportation company; second, urge the government to set minimal tariff at Rp4,600 per kilometer as in accordance to the fuel price; third, demand the conventional taxi be separated from online application.
