TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State oil company Pertamina President Director Elia Massa Manik confirmed that his office is continuing to restore the area affected by the oil spill in Balikpapan Bay, East Kalimantan.
According to Elia Massa, the environmental restoration including the affected community is done by prioritizing the aspects of health, safety, and environment (HSE).

“We are trying our best to ensure that the impact of this disaster can be resolved, especially the impact on the environment and the community, we are grateful to the people who are willing to work together with Pertamina in handling this disaster," he said during the clean-up activities in the area affected by oil spills at Kampung Atas Air, Margasari, West Balikpapan, Thursday, April 12.

Pertamina has also built health posts, distributed mask, cleaning up the environment, and provide assistance and compensation to the affected residents in Margasari, Kampung Baru Tengah, Kampung Baru Ulu, Karianggau, and Penajam.
“In addition to environmental care activities, Pertamina also ensures the safety aspects of the environment by conducting the air testing periodically," he said.
Until now, the investigation process of the oil spill is still ongoing, said Pertamina CEO.
