TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Great Indonesia Movement [Gerindra]'s deputy chairman Fadli Zon has dismissed rumors that Prabowo Subianto, the party's chief patron, was doubtful about running for president in the 2019 presidential elections albeit the latter has yet to announce his presidential bid to date.

“He hasn’t announced it does not mean [Prabowo] will not. This is mainly just a technical problem,” said Fadli Zon at the parliamentary complex in Senayan today. He personally feels that Prabowo will announce it soon.

Earlier, Prabowo’s decision to run for president was reiterated by the deputy chairman of the party’s supervisory board, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, who said there were issues concerning health and logistics that should be taken into account before the party could officially endorse Prabowo.

Hashim assured that Prabowo would run for president and face the incumbent presidential candidate.

“Allah is the almighty that can decide, so anything is possible,” said Hashim last Wednesday.

Fadli Zon said the party was sure it would nominate Prabowo, but added they did not want to rush the announcement. He believed Gerindra would declare its support for Prabowo Subianto on April 11, “Why rush it if the response is mediocre,” said Fadli Zon.
