TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi has yet to decide who will be his running mate for the 2019 presidential election. The president said his internal team will manage it.

According to General Secretary of United Development Party (PPP) Arsul Sani, Jokowi’s internal team is not from a political party. He said the team was filled with independent figures.

Arsul explained the team will consider criteria suggested by the political parties that support the government.

“As far as I know, Mr. Jokowi’s internal team for the vice presidential candidates is from the independent figures, and that’s good,” he said at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, March 8.

He said that the internal team deliberately was not filled with party figures because they have agreed that the selection stage for Jokowi's vice candidate will be started when each party begins to offer the criteria to Jokowi.
