TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Civil Service Agency (BKN) is currently formulating a plan to raise the basic salary of civil servants (PNS) in 2019. BKN has considered raising the salary of civil servants since it has been two years since they received a raise.
This is caused by the Government Regulation (PP) draft on civil servant’s salary, allowance, and facilities in replacing a previous regulation of PP No 7/1977 on civil servant’s wage, which was last changed in 2015 has yet been set.

“If the 2019 basic salary raise is approved, then the next step will be mentioned in the fiscal note and the state budget plan (RAPBN) of 2019,” said BKN spokesman Ridwan on Thursday, March 1.
According to the Director of Civil State Apparatus Compensation Aswin Eka Adhi, that plan will depend on the calculation result of the fiscal capacity or the country’s financial ability, which will be discussed in the Ministry of Finance.

BKN stated earlier that civil servants will not receive a raise in 2018, however, they are granted holiday allowances that are as high as their basic salary that abides by Government Regulation No 25/2017.
The policy to not grant civil servants a raise was because of the country’s financial load if it were to raise the wage of civil servants and its relation to the retirement funding that is increasing.
