TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Economic improvement in Indonesia is predicted to continue in 2018, Financial Service Authority (OJK) head of Region I Jakarta-Banten Bambang Widjanarko stated.

The economic improvement is supported by the growth of investments, especially through infrastructure development, he said on a seminar entitled

"The Role of OJK in Indonesia Economy ", in Tangerang, Banten, on Saturday (17/12).

"
Foreign investors also indicate a high level of trust in Indonesia’s economy. This is reflected in the increase of Indonesia’s rank in investmentgrade country based on global competitiveness index from 41 to 36 and Indonesia is considered as one of top improvers based on survey ease of doing business 2017," he continued.

Meanwhile, he believes the performance of financial intermediation will improve in line with economic growth, third-party funds (DPK) and credit predicted to reach 10-12 percent.

Nevertheless, credit growth is expected to be at the low threshold of projection considering the consolidation process of individual banks, improvement of non-performing loan (NPL) and pressure of competition from the development of peer to peer lending industry.
