The series of consecutive arrests is highly believed to be police’s prevention strategy heading towards Christmas and the new year celebration.

Four of the suspected terrorists were involved in the procurement and purchase of several firearms that are used for terrorist training camps in Gema Lipat Kain in West Kalimantan. The rest of the terrorists were also believed to be involved in Riau’s Bukit Gema Kampar terrorist training camp.

Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian assured that, so far, there are no terrorist threats ahead of Christmas and new years celebrations.
