TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Jusuf Kalla has reiterated his opposition to the proposed Police`s anti-corruption special detachment (Densus Antikorupsi) to monitor government bureaucracy.
“Government bureaucracy is currently being overseen by six institutions already,” Jusuf Kalla said in Jakarta on October 18.

The six agencies referred to by Kalla are ministry inspectorates, Financial and Development Monitoring Agency (BPKP), the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), the National Police, the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
Kalla is concerned that the National Police’s insistence on forming the anti-corruption special detachment or Densus Antikorupsi will create fear among public officials in their decision-making policy that could put state governance into a halt.
The Vice President agrees that corruption should be eradicated but not by forming the anti-corruption special unit.
As widely reported, Police have recently expressed their plan to establish Densus Antikorupsi that would need a hefty budget of Rp2.64 trillion, bigger than that of received by the KPK at Rp734.2 billion.
