TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government is pushing to restore the right to worship for the Muslim community at the al-Aqsa Mosque. Access to the mosque has been limited by the Israeli government for the past few days.

Foreign Affairs Minister, Retno LP Marsudi, revealed that the government is focusing on technical matters to resolve the conflict.

Minister Retno revealed that she discussed the importance and relevance of the al-Aqsa Mosque for the global Muslim community with the United States Foreign Minister. According to Retno, the issue is an extremely sensitive subject.

She urged for countries joined in the UN Security Council to help to restore the right to worship at the al-Aqsa Mosque.

Minister Retno admits that she will discuss the incident with Jordan, as she had done with the foreign ministers of Turkey, United States, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Retno said that Palestine is the priority for Indonesia’s foreign affairs, which is validated by the Constitution.

“We’re always standing by Palestine in our foreign political affairs. Indonesia is in the forefront of Palestine’s struggle,” said Retno.
