TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission will invite acting Jakarta Governor Sumarsono to discuss alleged bribes in the reclamation project in Jakarta Bay.
“We may hold a meeting on Friday with the acting governor to examine compensation money from developers,” the KPK chief Agus Rahardjo said Wednesday at the Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta.
Agus said that they will investigate potential irregularities in the project. “We will discuss whether or not [the compensation money] was used for the regional budget [APBD], whether or not it violated [the rules]. Whether or not state losses have been caused,” Agus said.
The KPK continues to investigate into the reclamation project in North Jakarta coast. Thus far, city councilor M. Sanusi had been found guilty of accepting Rp2 billion bribes from developer company Podomoro Land president director Ariesman Widjaja to lower the company’s contribution money.
Jakarta Corruption Court on December 29 last year sent Sanusi to seven years in prison and slapped Rp250 million fines with a subsidiary sentence of 2 months in jail. The KPK had slammed the judges for not revoking Sanusi’s political rights.
