TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The rupiah closed today's trade with a gain of 0.39 percent, or up by 53 points, at Rp13,512 per US dollar.

The rupiah opened with a 0.3-percent appreciation (41 bps) at Rp13,524 per US dollar. A well-organized rally that took place at the National Monument today helped the rupiah maintain its climb, and by 11:00 am the garuda went up by 46 bps to trade for Rp13,519 per US dollar.

The rupiah's uptrend also resulted from the dollar index that weakened by 0.27 percent to 100.77.

Throughout the day, the rupiah moved between Rp13,459 and Rp13,539. After the second session opened, investors reacted positively over the peaceful rally, allowing the rupiah to leave the 13,500-mark briefly.

At closing time, the rupiah stayed in the green zone albeit returning to the 13,500 level.
