TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said that he has gathered seven individuals in a group every day to provide outlooks of the country's economy and the government's budget-related performance. During the meeting, Jokowi called on business owners to sell their US dollars.

"Business owners would listen to banking directors, particularly if they can't access loans," Jokowi said when opening the Indonesia Banking Expo on Wednesday, September 9, 2015.

Jokowi asked bank directors to call on their customers to use the Rupiah in domestic transactions in order to stabilize the currency. Jokowi also wanted the US Dollar gained from exports to be converted into Rupiah in Indonesia.

"This is important because we need more Dollars," Jokowi said.

As recommended by the Financial Services Authority, Jokowi called on banks to facilitate foreigners to open foreign exchange accounts in Indonesia with a maximum balance of US$50,000. Jokowi believed that by doing so, there would be more US Dollars flowing in to the country.
