President Jokowi Tells the People to Remain Optimistic

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo asked the people to be optimistic in the midst of global recession. Jokowi expressed such request during tax amnesty socialization in Makassar, SouthSulawesi on Friday (26/11).
Jokowi stated that positive national economy growth is expected to drive the economy upturn in the future. Economic growth in the first quarter was 4,95 percent, the second quarter was 5,18 percent, and the third quarter was 5,02 percent. "Other countries had minus economic growth,” Jokowi said at Clarion Hotel inMakassar on Friday (25/11).
Jokowi said that our country’s potential wealth is enormous and it can be used to develop the economy. However, the handsome amount of wealth has not been reported and it is still kept overseas. That is why the government establish tax amnesty program which will contribute to our economy.
"We forget that our wealth, our money, which is under the pillow, under the bed, and kept overseas is abundant," Jokowi added.
