TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Khatibul Umam Wiranu, a member of Commission VIII of the House of Representatives said that the suspect and the mastermind of the bombing that occurred at the Oikumene Church in Samarinda intend to divide different religious followers into fighting against each other.
The act of terror that took place on Sunday, 13 November, 2016, injured three children and killed a toddler. "The suspect wants to create a society that’s sceptical towards each other," Khatibul Umam said on Monday, November 14, 2016.
Umam urged the Police to swiftly prosecute the bombing suspects and locate similar terrorist networks on other possible locations.
"The act of violence and terrorism that originates from extreme religious understandings, must be anticipated by the government," Umam said.
Umam also urged the government, specifically the Religious Affairs Ministry to adopt a persuasive approach by providing religious education.
Currently, local police has arrested a suspect known as Juhanda also known as Jo. It was later discovered that Jo had been arrested for a similar crime in Jakarta some time ago.
