TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Minister Ignasius Jonan said that state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina (Persero) will fully operate Mahakam Block in 2018 following the conclusion of the oil and gas block operatorship transfer.

“I and Pak Archandra reported that the Mahakam Block operatorship transfer to Pertamina has been concluded; therefore, it will be fully operated by Pertamina in 2018,” Jonan said after meeting President Jokowi at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday, as quoted by Antara news agency.

He said that the conclusion of Mahakam block transfer was instructed by President Joko Widodo immediately after his appointment as Energy Minister.

“The ESDM Ministry must conclude the Mahakam block operatorship transfer. It has been reported to the President,” he said.

Meanwhile, on lower gas prices for the industry sector, the former transport minister said that he has first to reach an agreement with the Industry Ministry.

“I will meet the Industry Minister to discuss it, I will make a decision afterward,” he said.

He is confident that reduction in gas prices for industry can be achieved in the near future. “Hopefully we can. Be patient, the discussion is ongoing,” he said.
