Soni Sumarsono Named Acting Jakarta Governor

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Directorate General of Regional Autonomy, the Interior Ministry, Soni Sumarsono will be inaugurated as acting Jakarta governor in place of Basuki Tjahaja Purnama during his leave for Jakarta election campaign.


“The Directorate General of Regional Autonomy [for acting Jakarta governor],” Interior Minister Tjahjo Kumolo told reporters Wednesday via a short message, as quoted by Antara news agency.


The Interior Minister is slated to inaugurate Sumarsono at the ministry’s office building in Central Jakarta today.


According to Tjahjo, he has signed a decree and a written report on the appointment, which will be handed over to the President, Vice President and the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.
