Del Piero to Visit Indonesia, Promotes Anti-Corruption

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Juventus Football Club's living legend Alessandro Del Piero will join hands with the Vatican to campaign against corruption and discrimination in sports in Indonesia.


The former Italian national team player has been appointed as an ambassador for Sport at the Service of Humanity. He will also serve as an honorary guest for Sport at the Service of Humanity's First Global Conference on Sport and Faith in the Vatican.


Del Piero stated in a press release on Sunday that he will visit Indonesia in the near future and meet with football fans.


Del Piero, who was famous for his dead-ball skills, is seen by the Vatican as a figure who has integrity and credibility.


The conference, which is initiated by Pope Francis, is aimed at encouraging world leaders and sports community to fight against discrimination and corruption. The Chatolic leader also underlines egalitarianism in sports by embracing all people regardless of differences.
