TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Foreign Minister Retno L.P. Marsudi has encouraged fellow Non-Aligned Movement Countries (GNB) to take actions in facing global challenges and crisis.
“In the 21st Century, GNB plays a pivotal role, being a strategic partner for the public," said Retno in Venezuela on NAM Summit.
The 17th NAM Summit in Venezuela takes the theme of "Peace, Sovereignty and Solidarity for Development”.
Retno, representing Indonesia, has encouraged all NAM members to take three measures. First, NAM needs to bolster multilateral spirit. Second, NAM needs to help manage global economy through partnership. Third, NAM members need to improve their internal work so that they do not get caught in "talk shop organization".
In the ministerial-level summit, Retno also said that Indonesia plans to run for a member of UN Security Council for 2019-2020.
