Kendal Industrial Park Aims to Attract 20 Investors

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The board of directors of PT Kawasan Industri Kendal (KIK), or Kendal Industrial Park, is aiming to attract 20 domestic and foreign investors in the KIK in 2016.


As of August, 16 companies operating in various sectors have made investments and are ready to absorb roughly 3,000 workers.


“We are now focusing on how to attract foreign and domestic investors to invest in Kendal as soon as possible. It’s the most crucial thing to do in order to absorb workers,” PT KIK director Hyanto Wihadhi said Wednesday on Central Java government website, as quoted by Bisnis.com.


Of 16 companies investing in the KIK, he went on, three of them are in the construction stage, one is even set to operate on August 25, 2016.


The companies are from Japan, Malaysia and Singapore with a total investment of Rp3.2 trillion and are expected to absorb 3,000 workers. The companies are running various business, including furniture, hotel interior design and cruise ship.


Hyanto explained that the area will be integrated with the planned Kendal Fashion City, Smart City and an Indonesian batik center at the northern area.


“Another progress achieved is the clearing of a 120-hectare land. We expect to attract 20 companies this year, four are already here,” he added.
