Pertamina Opens New Well in Tuban to Boost Productivity

TEMPO.CO, Tuban - State oil and gas company has opened a new well in Tuban, East Java, to boost its oil productivity. The exploration at Tapen 2 Well, conducted by Pertamina’s subsidiary Pertamina EP, has started since June 15.
“This is the third well,” Pertamina upstream director Syamsu Alam said when visiting Tuban on Friday, July 22, 2016.
Syamsu revealed that Pertamina would continue to dig the oil well as deep as 2,600 meters. Currently, the depth of the well is 2,074 meters.
With the new well, Pertamina has set a target to achieve an additional productivity of 2,000 or 3,000 barrels per day. Pertamina has also projected that the plan of development will be completed in 2017.
In its exploration activity, Pertamina uses drilling facility with the latest cyber technology. The technology that produces 1,000 horse power is expected to increase the drilling precision.
Pertamina Drilling Service Indonesia (PDSI) president director Lelin Eprianto revealed that the similar technology had been used at the Cebu Block. Pertamina prepared an investment of at least US$7 million for the project.
