TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-President Director, PT Gelora Trisula Semesta (GTS), Joko Driyono has decided that Persija Jakarta supporter group, the Jakmania, will still be allowed to watch games in the stadium albeit not being allowed to bring items bearing Jakmania symbols.

“Anything associated with Jakmania such as items, chants and others, are not allowed to enter the stadium until the end of the competition,” Joko Driyono told a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday, June 29, 2016.

He also said for those who want to watch a match are allowed to enter stadium as long as they comply with the punishment. PT GTS based the decision on the preceeding event where Aremania, Arema fans, were punished with similar decision in 2013.

Joko also said that the decision was made by the Disciplinary Commission of Indonesia Soccer Championship (ISC). PT GTS will do more to educate supporters in collaboration with the authorities. It will also hold discussions that focus on supporter behaviour.

Earlier, Sriwijaya FC were given 3-0 win over Persija Jakarta, despite Friday’s match of Torabika Soccer Championship 2016 in Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta, being stopped in the 81st minute due to riot involving the Jakmania and police personnel who oversaw the match. A number of police personnel and Jakmania members were wounded in the incident.

The riot in the match had received attention from the government who subsequently held a joint meeting with the police, PT GTS, Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) and Persija executives at the office of the Youth and Sports Ministry which was lead by Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi himself.

In addition, PT GTS and Persija are expected to take responsibility for the material damage due to the riot and to pay the charges for hospital services.

Despite the riot, the competition will continue to be held according to the schedule since calls have been made to do so.
