TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - Agriculture Minister Amran Sulaiman warned beef importers to not increase their prices. Minister Amran made the statements in response to rumors saying that beef prices will soar three days before Eid al-Fitr.
"If there is an abnormal price increase, [the importer's] import license will be reduced for the next year," Amran said on Wednesday, June 29, 2016.
Amran added that ministry officials should not hesitate in taking firm actions against importers proven to have increased their prices. "Revoke their import license if necessary," Amran said.
Currently, beef prices in Kramat Jati traditional market still ranges around Rp 79,000 per kilogram, according to Minister Amran's observation.
