TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has arrested a member of the House’s Legal Commission Putu Sudiartana. The politician of the Democratic Party was arrested along with three others.

“The identity is Putu Sudiartana and three others, including [his] staffs and driver,” said a KPK official, Wednesday, June 29, 2016. The three other people are Novianti, Ipin and Mukhlis.

The arrest has been confirmed by the KPK Chief Agus Raharjo. “It’s true,” he said, without naming their identity. Since the arrest, the KPK has had 24 hours to decide if Putu will be named as a corruption suspect or be released.

Chairman of the House’s Commission III Bambang Soesatyo has confirmed the report. “Yes, it’s true,” he told Tempo. According to Bambang, Novianti and Ipin are Putu’s staff. Whereas Mukhlis is allegedly Novianti’s husband.

“Yes, his name is Mukhlis. He’s a businessman, they said,” Bambang said. He didn’t know about the case that entangled the member of his commission.

Putu is the first member of the House’s Legal Commission arrested by the KPK in a sting operation. Before Putu, a member of parliament Damayanti Wisnu Putrianti of the House’s Infrastructure Commission had been arrested by the KPK.
