TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Transportation Minister Ignasius Jonan on Friday, June 24, 2016, has called on all policy makers in transportation modes - as well as armed force and police personnel - to not take a long leave during Eid holidays.
The policy does not mean to prohibit people to celebrate Eid. Jonan asserted specifically for stakeholders in the transportation sector that it is forbidden to take a long leave during Eid holidays.
Jonan says transportation personnel have to stand by to anticipate and serve the increasing passengers during Eid each year. This year, the ministry estimates approximately 17.6 million people will be using public transportation for homecoming.
“This is inevitable. Throughout the economy growth, purchasing power will increase and the people's opportunity to travel is higher,” he said.
