`Battle of Surabaya` Film Steals Attention in France

TEMPO.CO, Cannes - Local animated film, the Battle of Surabaya (BoS), stole attention at the Murse du Film, an international film market at the Cannes Film Festival held on May 11-22, 2016.
Produced by MSV Pictures, the film tells a story of a boy named Musa during the post-Independence Day war in Surabaya, East Java.
“Thank God, the Battle of Surabaya will be screened in Southeast Asia, India, Middle East and Latin America,” writer and producer M. Suranto told Antara London in Cannes, France, on Saturday, May 14, 2016.
Another animated film produced by the same production house, Ajisaka and the Arit of Peace or Zheng He, will also be offered to international distributors.
The Battle of Surabaya has won the Most People’s Choice Award of the International Movie Trailer Festival (IMTF) in 2013, and was nominated as the Best Foreign Animation Film at the 15th Annual Golden Trailer Award in 2014.
Directed by Aryanto Yuniawan, the 2D animation film is a fiction with Indonesia’s historical background during the war in 1945.
