TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-The Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) has facilitated the operation of 16 investment projects outside Java worth Rp173.6 trillion. The projects can now continue with their halted development.
BKPM chief BKPM Franky Sibarani said in a press released on Wednesday that Rp120.9 trillion or 69% of the investment commitment has realized and given principle licenses.
According to Franky, provinces outside Java that contribute the most to the investment projects are Papua and West Kalimantan.
"Papua has two investment projects worth Rp102 trillion, of which Rp97.3 trillion had been realized," he said as Bisnis Indonesia reported.
West Kalimantan, he said, has two investment projects worth Rp28.9 trillion, of which Rp77.6 trillion had been realized.
Franky said the BKPM will continue to focus on pushing investments outside of Java Island, in a bid to even out the national development.
"Some sectors that will continue with their operations and had their projects realized are mining, plantations, and aluminum smelter. These are business fields that will encourage the growth of other sectors" he said.
