"It has been widely reported that three Indonesian nationals - a mother and her two children - were injured in Brussels Airport, where they were due to board a flight back to Indonesia," said Nasir in Nusa Dua, Bali on Wednesday, March 23, 2016.
Nasir said that the Indonesian Embassy in Belgium has met the husband of the woman in question. The man, who is a Belgian national, informed authorities that his wife is an Indonesian citizen. "Right now we are trying to confirm the nationalities of their children - whether they are citizens of Belgium or Indonesia," Nasir said.
The injuries suffered by the woman and her daughter is quite serious, while her son sustained relatively minor injuries. "The woman and her daughter are now being treated in an intensive care unit (ICU)," continued Nasir.
The spokesperson also said that Belgian authorities have yet to release the identities of the dead and the injured - and that preliminary information was acquired by Embassy officials in Brussels, who scoured every hospital that is being tasked to treat the victims of the explosions all across the city.
Previously, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, A.M. Fachir, said that three Indonesians were injured in the explosions that rocked Brussels on Tuesday, March 22, 2016.
