Financial, Banking Sector Open for Foreign Investment

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution led a coordination meeting on the Negative Investment List (DNI) for the financial and banking sectors on Thursday, January 28, 2016. Bank Indonesia Senior Deputy Governor Mirza Adityaswara said that the Central Bank has provided space for investment in the banking sector. "If the situation is stable and inflation is good, there will be space for [investment]," said Mirza.
Suahasil Nazara, Head of the Finance Ministry's fiscal policy agency said that the financial and banking sectors are quite open for foreign investment.
"[The meeting] is a follow-up meeting on DNI and some [requirements] will be loosened so that investment in the [finance and banking] sector increases," said Suahasil.
According to Suahasil, regulations in the Finance, Banking, and Insurance Law are open for foreing investment. "Foreign investment is welcome in the banking sector."
