TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested Damayanti Wisnu, a lawmaker from the Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), on Wednesday night, January 13, 2016. KPK investigators also seized a Toyota Alphard belonged to Damayanti.

KPK spokesperson Yuyuk Andriato Iskak refused to comment on the arrest.

“We confirm it yet. We’ll see about that tomorrow,” Yuyuk told Tempo on Wednesday, January 13, 2016.

Damayanti managed to occupy a lawmaker seat at House Commission V overseeing infrastructure. She was elected as a member of the House of Representatives from the Central Java IX electoral district that included Brebes, Slawi and Tegal.

Damayanti’s fellow PDIP politician Tjahjo Kumolo, who currently serves as the Home Affairs Minister, said that the PDIP would certainly revoke Damayanty’s membership at the party.

“The party will definitely remove Damayanti. During the party’s national working meeting, the party has warned its cadres not to be involved in graft cases,” Tjahjo told Tempo on Thursday, January 14, 2016.

Tjahjo admitted that he knew Damayanti as wealthy businessperson running an infrastructure business. Tjahjo deplored that Damayanti’s reputation was tainted with a corruption case.
