TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-The Bank Indonesia (BI) middle currency rate slipped to Rp13,563 on Monday , October 19. At the same time, the rupiah is fluctuating over at the spot market.

Data issued by BI put the Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (JISDOR) at Rp13,563, down 29 points (0.21 percent) from yesterday's, Bisnis Indonesia reported.

Meanwhile at the spot market, the rupiah fluctuates; traded 0.04 percent (5.0 points) lower for Rp13,545 per US dollar as per 11:16 this morning.

Samuel Sekuritas economist Rangga Cipta said that the rupiah's uptrend is being held back by the greenback's rebound over the past few days.

Investors' hope for a BI Rate cut following the central bank's statement of a possibility for monetary easing had subsided after the Jakarta Interbank Offered Rate (JIBOR) went up two days in a row last week.

"The Dollar Index which maintains a strong sentiment and the announcement of China's likely to slow GDP could push the rupiah down on another weak trend," Rangga said.

In the last month, the JIBOR has fallen by 1.0 point to 7.96600 percent after rising 15 bps in the three previous trading days.
