TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Commissioner of the National Police Commission Hamidah said the National Police Criminal Investigations (Bareskrim) has to face many challenges. Former Narcotics Agency (BNN) Head Anang Iskandar was appointed to replace Comm. Gen. Budi Waseso as Head of Bareskrim.

"Previously, Anang only have one major problem to handle, namely narcotics and drugs. Now he has to deal with a broad range of major issues," Hamidah said told Tempo early on Friday, September 4.

The swapping positions between Head of Bareskrim and BNN was decided by the Higher Rank Board (Wanjakti) and the National Police Chief Badrodin Haiti Thursday evening.

Anang, said Hamida, should continue Budi Waseso’s work. She mentioned a number of cases being handled by the Criminal Investigation under the leadership such as the alleged corruption in Pertamina Foundation and PT Pelindo II. "The handling of the cases should not stop with this change," she said.
