Minister to Accelerate Project Tenders

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said that the budget absorption at his ministry had reached 33.04 percent of the total budget ceiling set at Rp 118 trillion (US$8.4 billion).
Basuki has set a target to absorb 93 percent of the budget by the end of this year.
"We expect to absorb 44 percent of the budget by late September and 56 percent in October," Basuki told journalists after a meeting at his office on Thursday, September 03, 2015.
The meeting was held to discuss next year’s budget spending. To accelerate the 2016 budget absorption, the ministry wills start project tendering this month.
According to Basuki, 61 packages of Bina Marga projects, with a total value of Rp 3.7 trillion (US$264.3 million), are expected to be offered in September. The ministry has started to pitch the projects to partners and convince them that the acceleration of the budget absorption for 2015 and 2016 will be well-executed.
"We will report the results to the Vice President tomorrow," the Minister said.
