Queen of Denmark to Visit Indonesia in October

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Danish Royals, Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik are to visit Indonesia on October 21 to 24. The visit will also escorted by a number of ministers and bosses of 50 top Danish corporates.


Queen Margrethe II will discuss improving cooperation in maritime, agribusiness, clean technology design, and lifedata-style sector. "The visit will show how important Indonesia is. The royals leave the nation only once or twice a year. This year, the queen decided to visit Indonesia,” said ambassador Casper Klynge on Tuesday September 1.


The visit will also be remarked with the signing of several memorandum of understanding, particularly in the field of strategic partnership, maritime, transportation, education, culture, and agribusiness.


Although Denmark is a relatively small nation with only 5.6 million citizens, it is known to boast a massive maritime industry. There are in total of 200 ship companies, docks, and sparepart distributors.


Based on the data from the embassy, there were Rp1.3 trillion worth of import and Rp3.4 trillion worth of export from Indonesia to Denmark in 2014. Danish market expansion strategy plans to see double their export in 2016.


Some of Danish companies operating in Indonesia are ship company AP Moller/Maersk Line, Ecco international footwear, Lego toys, Grundfos, Novo Nordisk, Danfoss, Arla, Bang&Olufsen (B&O), ISS and FLS Industries.
