South Korean Investors Plan to Invest in The Electricity Sector

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Two South Korean investors have expressed their interests to invest in the electricity sector, Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Franky Sibarani said in Jakarta on Saturday, August 29.
Vice President Jusuf Kalla met with the potential investors in a one-to-one meeting in Seoul, South Korea, on Friday. Sibarani who accompanied Vice President Kalla on the working visit to South Korea said that the two investors were a local state-owned enterprise in the electricity sector and a private company in charge of the provision of energy and renewable energy.
"The South Korean state-owned enterprise in the electricity sector has expressed their interest to join the project tender of power plan in Banten and West Java, each with the capacity of 2 x 1.000 MW with the expected total investment value of Rp 80 trillion," he said.
In the meantime, he added that another investor planned to establish a representative office in Jakarta and to conduct a feasibility study to provide electricity in remote areas.
