Chinese Ambassador Meets Minister, Discusses Bullet Train Project

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Xie Feng met with Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution on Thursday, AUgust 28, 2015, to discuss the Jakarta-Bandung bullet train train project. Feng said that the he only proposed one feasibility study.


"There’s no update, only one [feasibility study]," Feng said at the Ministry's office on Friday, August 28, 2015.


Feng came to Darmin after the government requested feasibility study proposals. According to Darmin, Japan has submitted two proposals, comprising of preliminary proposal and another proposal with additional suggestions.


Darmin added that the government would review the proposals submitted by the two countries by considering the economic impacts and the value of the investment. The additional proposal must be submitted today to be reviewed by President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo on Monday, August 31, 2015.


"The final decision will be on President's hand," Darmin said.
