TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - total of 33 Indonesian publishers are ready to exhibit their best books at the Frankfurt Book Fair (FBF) that will take place on October 14-18, 2015. The FBF is the oldest and the largest book fair in the world attended by 132 countries and 260,000 visitors.

This year, Indonesia will serve as the guest of honor and be facilitated with a 2,500-meter-square pavilion. The first three days of the event will be allocated for business meeting between publishers and the rest of the days will be opened for public. At this year's FBF, Indonesian publishers will focus on promoting and selling copyrights for Indonesian books.

"Hopefully, the 2015 Frankfurt Book Fair would become a turning point for Indonesian publishers, as well as a momentum of change. Our publishers used to come to this event to by copyrights, but now they started to see an opportunity to sell copyrights," Chief of the Indonesian National Committee Goenawan Mohamad said.

Goenawan added that the 2015 FBF would provide an opportunity to improve publishers' knowledge on how to participate in a competitive book fair. In addition, Goenawan said that such an event would encourage publishers to improve book design, quality, content, and open a possibility for digitalization.

The participating publishers were chosen for representing variety of books in Indonesia. Therefore, being a guest of honor would not only become an opportunity to introduce more Indonesian books to international community, but also to encourage publishers to improve the domestic book industry.
