Transjakarta Gets 500 New Buses

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama said he will be adding 500 additional Transjakarta buses and will be shipped is stages until the end of the year, reports said Monday, August 3, 2015.


Ahok says the shipment has started and he leaves it all up to the manufacturer to produce the buses.


Body of the buses will then be built domestically. The buses is planned to be purchased from Scania, Hino and Hyundai.


Previously, PT Transportasi Jakarta CEO Antonius Kosasis said that 120 medium-size Toyota-brand buses from Kopaja will be ready in October. The next month, 158 buses will arrive from China.


These Chinese buses are ex procurement from the Regional Public Service Agency in 2012 and 2013. There were 99 Foton–brand and 59 Yutong-brand buses.


In December 2015, 31 transjakarta buses partners with Scania and are ready to arrive in Jakarta. Also, there will be some 200 medium-size buses granted from Kopaja for Transjakarta. A total of 509 buses have been prepared until the end of the year.
