TEMPO.CO, Jakarta- Jakarta Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama was probed by Police Headquarters’ Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) for five hours as a witness in corruption of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) procurement on Wednesday, July 29, 2015.

Ahok joked that Jakarta Legislative Council deputy chairman Abraham Lunggana or Lulung should replace Comr. Gen. Budi Waseso as Bareskrim chief. “It’s too bad Lulung never went to police school. If he did, I would propose to President Joko Widodo for him to replace Bareskrim chief,” said Ahok on Wednesday.

Ahok’s statement was in response to Lulung’s comment that Ahok deserved to become suspect in UPS corruption case because Ahok is person in charge in the 2014 Jakarta budget.

Ahok was probed as a witness for suspects Alex Usman and Zaenal Soleman who allegedly marked up the fund to purchase UPS in the 2014 Jakarta budget.

Alex is former infrastructure section head of the West Jakarta Education Sub-agency and Zaenal at the Central Jakarta Education Sub-agency. The corruption causes Rp50 billion in state losses.
