TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Jusuf Kalla expressed on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 that he wants the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) to have a new authority by inserting Bappenas in financial planning, equal to the Finance Ministry.
He said the new authority will make all national development plans be more measurable. “Bappenas has no financial authority. That’s the task of the Finance Ministry,” said Kalla.
Kalla is optimistic that if Bappenas has the authority to draft budget, budget absorption will be faster. “It will certainly be quicker,” he said.
Previously, National Development Planning Minister Andrinof Chaniago said he was waiting for Presidential Decree on adding several new authorities.
Those new authorites include the authority to check programs and projects as well as budget allocation listed in the list of budget implementations.
