TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Commission I of House of Representatives (DPR), Ahmad Zainuddin, asked President Joko Widodo to act firm on Papua matters. The firmness must be done when Jokowi meet with the Prime Minister of United Kingdom (UK) David Cameron which is scheduled on Monday, July 27.

"The opportunity of bilateral meetings that should be used by President Jokowi to assert RI demeanor-related to Papua and sovereignty of theRepublic of Indonesia," Ahmad said in a statement on Monday, July 27.

According to Ahmad, such a firm stance was supposed to be taken because there was a certain relationship between Papua and UK. Ahmad explained, the separatist of Free Papua Movement (OPM) has official representative offices in the UK, in the Oxford city.

"The representatives of OPM have long been in UK. Why the UK allows them to make representation? This is the politics of other countries. President Jokowi should ask the Prime Minister Cameron and asserts about the Republic of Indonesia," said Ahmad.

It is known that today the Prime Minister of UK will visit Jakarta to conduct a discussion. Foreign Ministry spokesman, Armanatha Nasir said the visit would discuss improvement of economic cooperation between Indonesiaand the UK.

Related to the issue of Papua, not long ago there was an attack to Muslims in Tolikara, Papua, on the day of Eid al-Fitr 1436 H, July 17. The attack also resulted in the burning of stalls near Koramil office and was spreading to Masjid Baitul Muttaqin.
