TEMPO.CO, Jayapura - Papua Police investigators have cancelled interrogation on four Evangelical Church in Indonesia (GIDI) officials. GIDI issued a letter saying that the officials could not be present for the investigation because they were still conducting mediation for the congregation in order to settle the dispute in Karubaga, Tolikara.

"The letter is signed by GIDI president Pastor Dorman Wandikmbo," said Papua Police's detective director Sr. Comr. Dwi Riyanto on Monday, July 27, 2015.

The letter, dated July 26, 2015, was delivered by Olga Hamadi, one of legal counselors for GIDI officials.

According to Dwi, the GIDI officials were summoned for the changes in the schedule of GIDI's international youth seminar and revival service (KKR). Previously, the committee scheduled the KKR to be held on July 22 to July 27, but it was later moved to July 15 to July 19 in Karubaga, Tolikara.

Papua Police chief Insp. Gen. Yotje Mende said he would probe four GIDI officials on Monday. Those four officials are GIDI president Pastor Dormwan Wandikmbo, KKR committee chief YJ and two people who signed the letter banning worshiping in Karubaga, Tolikara; they are Tolikara GIDI chairman Pastor Nayus Wenda and Tolikara GIDI secretary Marthen Jingga.

Last Thursday, July 23, 2015, Papua Police captured two suspects with the initials AK and JW, who were allegedly involved in the riot in Tolikara. Bot AK and JW were alleged for provoking a group of masses, leading to a riot.
